- Oxford Private Medical Practice
Oxford Private Medical Practice was established in 2010 Summertown, Central North Oxford. The practice has successfully grown from a patient base of 0 to over 10,000. The practice is committed to delivering high quality, patient-focused care within the private sector to the local population. We also see patients who travel significant distances from the surrounding counties and further afield where they are not able to source similar services closer to home.
The practice is located on the top floor of Mayfield House, in Banbury Road in the middle of Summertown. Summertown is a meeting point and hub for people living in this part of Oxford and is on one of the main routes into the centre of Oxford. This part of Oxford is home to several private schools.
We have four rooms consulting rooms and an office that can seat 4 admin staff. There is a fully equipped staff kitchen and changing and showers for doctors.
Our core work is private general practice. The practice was started by Dr Amanda Northridge who works as a GP for 3 sessions each week. She oversees the management of the practice.
Working in Oxford affords the opportunity of working alongside some of the best practices in the country with excellent postgraduate teaching opportunities. Oxford is a world renown centre of clinical excellence and the teaching and research within the healthcare sector.
Oxford draws a group of diverse and interesting people who form the core of our practice population.
Practice Population
The practice population profile is varied. We have a core of patients for whom we are their sole GP. We have another larger group who will use their NHS GP for some things and us for other, often more complicated problems. The third group of patients is temporary patients including visitors to Oxford, university students, language school students. For this reason we have a high annual turnover of patients and around 30% of patients seen in the practice will be new patient consultations.
People
We currently have four GPs who see patients. Working form our office, and part of our team, are a clinical psychologist, a consultant psychiatrist, a child psychiatrist, a counselling psychologist and a dietician, all working on a part time basis.
Systems
We are paperless and use Crosscare from AHC for our medical records
