RCGP MAP Assessors
To support the RCGP Membership by Assessment of Performance (MAP) programme by assessing candidates’ submissions at portfolio and Recommendation Panel stage, and candidates at Evaluation Panel stage.
MAP is a portfolio based assessment by which established GPs can attain MRCGP. The portfolio comprises 13 criteria which cover all aspects of general practice. The assessment is undertaken by GPs with a variety of working patterns who are based throughout the United Kingdom and as such, assessors will need to be able to contextualise situations which may be unfamiliar and understand the challenges that different candidates may face. Assessors will need an understanding of appraisal and CPD work. A background in assessment is also helpful, but not essential.
The role requires a flexible commitment as the workload is variable, depending on candidate numbers. Assessors are remunerated at a rate of £207.00 per half day session (the standard RCGP sessional rate – subject to regular review), and when necessary travel and subsistence costs in compliance with RCGP policy are reimbursed.
The RCGP recruits its assessors from as broad a base as possible and is committed to an inclusive philosophy of equality and diversity; a policy it expects to be reflected in the range of assessors it recruits.
More information about MAP is available email@example.com
