Great GP Opportunity in Brighton

Our Sister Organisation, Med-Co Secure Healthcare Services Ltd, is a Healthcare Provider into Secure settings. Their dedicated team have a wide variety of clinical experience to draw on within specialist secure environments.

This post is to work within a Prison in Lewes, near Brighton. If you have never worked in a prison before, your first time can be a daunting experience. The main concerns, apart from safety, are “isn’t it all drugs and mental health?”. While these can take up a substantial part of your time, there is so much more to prison medicine. For the most part, prisoners have much poorer health than those on the outside. A high proportion of prisoners smoke, there is a higher incidence of many of the diseases of poverty, many prisoners have never accessed a GP or dentist before coming, many have high risk lifestyles, and the close confinement means increased incidences of certain infectious diseases.

Support will be given to you to undertake specialist Drug and Alcohol misuse certification to help in your role, as well as ongoing support from the team on site and at Head Office.

Med-Co’s team members are empathetic, patient-centred and constantly strive to improve standards within the healthcare environment. Many of the clinicians split their time between prison and community work to give them a balanced perspective on healthcare needs. This enables GPs to bring best practice from each environment to their roles.

They are looking for a GP who is interested in extending their portfolio and joining their growing team.  If the above sounds like a role for you we would love to hear from you.
