We are looking for a Salaried GP or GP Partner for 4 to 6 sessions a week, this is a new role to reduce workload and pressures.  The role is designed to enable flexibility for applicants to choose whether they just do salaried work or a mixture of salaried work and locums or other work. Partnership in the longer term would be welcomed for the right candidate.

Mount Road Surgery, Gorton, is an established and well-respected Central Manchester practice of 8,000 patients with four partners, including one nurse partner and four salaried doctors.  We have a highly committed and lively team of staff with a cheerful approach to the challenges of General Practice including a nurse practitioner (nurse partner), a practice nurse, an HCA with an extended role and an HCA.  We work from partner owned, purpose-built premises which are pleasantly situated on the edge of a park.

The doctors enjoy an interactive and supportive working relationship and meet regularly at lunchtimes to discuss any clinical or other issues.  We are happy to provide mentoring and support to our new colleague.  We focus on trying to get the work/home balance right for each individual.  We are enthusiastic about clinical medicine (of which there is plenty) and the satisfaction that comes from working with the rich variety of patients and personalities to be found in an inner-city practice.  The practice operates a personalised list system which means that we get to know our patients very well and this greatly enhances their continuity of care.   We make extensive use of triage and phone consultations as these tend to be popular with patients and have achieved an extremely low home visiting rate, typically just a few per week for the entire practice.

We have developed sophisticated administrative systems and are consistently high QOF achievers.  We are keen on using technology to make both our own and our patients’ lives easier and make full use of EMIS Web, Docman, and Lexacom.  Clinicians also have remote access to the surgery computers.  We maintain high quality data entry and use templates and diary entries extensively.  You will be offered personalised training in the IT systems we use.

If you think you might like to join us please apply by email including a covering letter and CV to our practice manager, Jackie Lewis-Hughes, Jackie.lewis-hughes@nhs.net, Mount Road Surgery, 110 Mount Road, Gorton, Manchester, M18 7BQ Tel: 0161 231 4997.  A full practice profile is available on request.

You are welcome to arrange an informal visit to meet everyone and to get a feel for the practice before formally applying; just ask the Practice Manager to arrange a time for you.
