Cumbria Health on Call Ltd (CHoC) is a not-for-profit Social Enterprise providing out of hours (OOH) primary care to the population of Cumbria in addition to a number of in-hours services. The OOH element of service provides care, treatment and support over 68% of the week for some 500,000 people over a land mass of 2,613 square miles.

CHoC was rated as ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission following an inspection in November 2016. The organisation also received excellent feedback from a survey conducted by Healthwatch Cumbria, an independent report into patient experiences of the CHoC service, and most recently CHoC was nationally recognised at the NHS70 Parliamentary Awards, winning the Excellence in Primary Care award.

Nurse Practitioner / Nurse Prescriber – Out of Hours and North Extended Access

Various Locations accross Cumbria including Carlisle, Whitehaven and Barrow in Furness. 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Nurse Practitioners and/or Prescribers to join the CHoC team in support of our out-of-hours and extended access services in the North of the county offering flexible working opportunities in a fast-paced but supportive working environment.

In addition to the existing out-of-hours service run by CHoC, the North Cumbria extended access service provides additional routine pre bookable15 minute appointments with GPs, Nurses and Pharmacists through the use of EMIS.

The post holder will work as a member of a close team responsible for recognising, negotiating and implementing processes to enhance the delivery of care.

You will:

  • assess patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
  • initiate treatment
  • conduct investigations
  • give advice and manage problems using professional autonomous decision making processes
  • liaise with other healthcare professionals and service providers to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Due to the requirements of the role, a minimum of 5 years post registration experience is necessary including primary care experience.
