London area GPs wanted for New TV Medical Series

Friendly, established GPs wanted for a new 10 part TV series for Channel 5/5Star and MTV. Each doctor should be a full member of the MDU or MPS and be registered with the GMC.

Across the series they will be helping young people who are desperate to find out what’s wrong with them. They’ll be diagnosing patients in their own homes, or referring them on to specialists for suitable treatment/further investigation.

The main role of each of the doctors within the show will be as follows:

• To meet patients

• To listen to their story

• To advise and, where appropriate, diagnose them

• To prescribe medication for the contributors (in instances where it’s appropriate)

• To refer them (if appropriate) to specialist clinics

The doctors will see images of the patient’s condition in advance of filming and be able to look up possible causes / treatments. Doctors will not be given any names or confidential information at this point.

Each contributor will be asked to fill in a medical declaration so should the doctor want to look back at any history, they can refer to this if necessary. All information will be treated in the strictest confidence. Doctors will also be able to request GP medical records from the contributors’ as part of the consultation with the contributor.

The doctors will be required for a total of 10 to 12 filming days between filming starting in mid-October 2016 and early February 2017. They will be paid a fee of £75 per filming day with any additional days paid at the same.

All doctors will be asked to produce their own professional indemnity / malpractice insurance documents from the MDU (or similar body) and ensure that this cover extends to their work on the television programme such that they are able to appear and that their insurance is still valid.
