Medical Lead - Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Urgent Care

Are you committed to delivering the best quality patient care in an innovative and fast-paced service? Are you passionate about leading a team of clinicians?

If so, Care UK may have the job for you.

Care UK is the largest provider of unscheduled care services in the UK and we proudly continue to lead the way with innovation in line with the vision of the NHS. This means we have a constant need to add to our bright and dynamic medical team to ensure we continue to fulfil the lives of our patients. We are continuing to build on our extensive experience in Primary Care by delivering a new Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) service across Suffolk and North East Essex.

The IUC service serves over 1 million people across the region. We are now looking for a Medical Lead to join the team on a permanent basis, working either full or part-time as part of a job share.

We’ll make sure that your skills are kept completely up to date with a dedicated CPD programme. We provide an environment where there are always opportunities to innovate and learn and put your ideas forward.

About the Job

You’ll get the chance to work within a variety of services, spanning across our new Clinical Assessment Service (CAS), NHS 111, face-to-face appointments within OOH and the opportunity to work within an ED streaming project.

The service has a wider multidisciplinary team, including Registered Nurses, UCP’s, Mental Health Nurses, Dental Nurses, Prescribing Pharmacists and Pharmacy Advisors.

You’ll work closely with DoH, NHSE, HEE, local CCG’s and external stakeholders to develop, review and maintain patient pathways delivered through the service.

You’ll also use your clinical expertise to provide medical oversight, ensuring that there is appropriate clinical governance, quality assurance and service improvement processes in place in order to ensure we are delivering the best possible care to our patients. This will include identifying system improvements, pathway improvements and identifying training needs and promoting and supporting clinical audits.

This job will be a 5:1 split between management and clinical sessions. Working hours can be flexible, but we are ideally looking for someone who can work their clinical session/s in the out of hours period.
