The Royal College of General Practitioners is the largest membership organisation solely for GPs in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1952, it has over 54,000 members who are committed to improving patient care, developing their own skills and promoting general practice as a discipline. General practice is the largest branch of the medical profession. It provides some 1 million consultations for patients in the UK every working day and deals with 86% of the health problems experienced by the UK population.

The RCGP's Postgraduate Training and Standards Directorate is looking for an enthusiastic GP educator to provide strategic leadership for the RCGP’s curriculum work, which will inform the current and future training and development pathway for doctors working in general practice.

As Medical Director of Curriculum you will take a lead role in the process for maintaining and updating the GP curriculum (which is the national educational framework for GP training and career development), ensuring that it is fit for purpose and meets the requirements of the GMC.  You will provide support and oversight to the Curriculum editors team and will collaborate with other College clinicians and external stakeholders to ensure the RCGP curriculum is informed by the work of the broader College and changes to the wider healthcare environment.

The appointment is for a fixed term of three years subject to annual review.

We invite applications from enthusiastic and self-motivated people in the GP educational community with strong communication and leadership skills. The successful candidate should have a curriculum or educational background.

The successful candidate will share our corporate values. In return, the College offers excellent terms and conditions.

To apply, please apply via the RCGP Vacancies page and upload your CV (1 – 2 sides of A4) and cover letter/statement (roughly 500 words): https://vacancies.rcgp.org.uk/vacancies

The Royal College of General Practitioners is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
