United Medical is a friendly, clinician-led locum agency offering free personalised services to our locums. We aim to be go beyond what other agencies offer, taking your personal work/shift needs as a starting point. We do not take a commission from our doctors - while also aiming to be fair in our costing for the GP practices we supply.

We take all the hassle out of administration for you - including booking sessions, invoicing and DBS checks, and we have a weekly payroll. We can help with rate-setting and offer tax advice.

We are also happy to help with preparation of your locum folder and chase GP practices for feedback.

Our Directors are clinicians (a practising doctor and senior nurse), and we understand the pressures of freelance working and clinical demands!

We do not simply want to 'fill shifts' - our aim is to foster a sense of community among our GPs by organising professional development meetings and we can advise about becoming involved in other, interesting dimensions to GP work if you would like to pursue a portfolio career. We believe that working as a locum is a positive lifestyle choice which should be celebrated.
