Invitation for applicants to the position of Chief Examination Officer (Medical)

The College of Paramedics Board of Trustees invites applications for the position of Chief Examination Officer (Medical).  The Chief Examination Officer (Medical) is a position within the College Faculty.  The primary role of the Chief Examination Officer (Medical) in collaboration with the Chief Examination Officer (Non-Medical), is to provide the College assurance that the competence assessment for allied health and non-medical professionals working in either primary, urgent, or emergency care is a fair test of enhanced competence.

The post holder will work with the Examinations Manager, Chief Examination Officer (Non-Medical), Examiners, educationalists, and analysts, to develop the curriculum. The latter will form the foundation for obtaining the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) accreditation of the exam.

This is a unique opportunity to assist in the transition of an established competence assessment exam from a large NHS Ambulance Trust, into the College of Paramedics. This exam is seen as an integral part of the development of the allied health and non-medical professions workforce in the UK, to provide assurance that the enhanced clinical care practice of the aforementioned practitioners working in either primary, urgent, or emergency care, is safe and effective.

The Chief Examination Officer (Medical) will require some travel in the UK.

A fee of £10,000 per annum will be payable.  Applicants should have previous assessment experience, the ability to think strategically and to develop and present plans clearly, and be a GP and/or Medical Trainer.
