The Western Isles is a beautiful island off the cost of Scotland. They are looking for cover for a few of their locations .... 


BARRA -ISLAND 24/7 COVER

9th July 0800 - 25th  July  08:00

9th August  -  19th August 0800

2nd October 0800- 23rd October  0800

12th November 0800 onwards

The hospital has 5 inpatient beds which serve a population of 1200 patients.  The Barra role is a 24/7 model/on call.   Support is provided by a team of nurses.    Complex patients are airlifted off island to mainland or Western Isles Hospital. 

Self-catering accommodation provided and travel costs paid.

20th May - 27th May 0800

 10th June - 24th June 08:00

 1st 08:00 - 08:00 5th August. 

26th August -  9th Sept 0800

11th November - 18th Nov 0800

16th December - 23rd Dec 0800


**A weeks OOH cover could consist of 14 hour evening shifts during week and 24 hours each day per weekend ***

The Uist Hospital out of hours - includes both GP out of hours and A&E.  The hospital has 17 inpatient beds.  Support is provided by an experienced nursing team with a range of skill sets.  Complex patients are airlifted off island to mainland or Western Isles Hospital.

18:00 - 08:00                          24 hours with 2nd on call GP

Self-catering accommodation provided and travel costs paid.

work pattern:

Mon-Thurs 18:00-08:00 (Friday rest day) Sat + Sun 08:00-20:00

                               Or

Sat + Sun 08:00-20:00 Mon-Thurs 18:00-08:00


GP out of hours deal with any 111 calls through Adastra and will via home visit attend Custody to support any patients in the custody suite in Stornoway.  (please note this is not forensics). 

The Dr will operate with a ANP who carry out the home visits for the service.
