NHS Western Isles are looking for a Locum GP with a passion for clinical care and strong team-working skills to cover the 5-bedded St Brendan’s community hospital 24/7.
The hospital has 5 inpatient beds which serve a population of 1200 patients. The Barra role is a 24/7 model/on call. Support is provided by a team of nurses. Complex patients are airlifted off island to mainland or Western Isles Hospital.
You will have no daytime responsibility for general practice.
You will work closely with the community nursing team, which covers both St Brendan’s and the community. The Scottish Ambulance also provide paramedic cover on the island.
The post is flexible and would suit a portfolio career incorporating other roles in the UK.
Accommodation is provided (Family Accommodation can be arranged). The pay for this would be £4,200 per week.
Barra is a scenic place to live and work with excellent transport links to the UK mainland, and other Outer Hebrides islands.
