General Practitioner Medical Director for International Training Nationwide UK Vacancy

Part time, Fixed term Contract (initially 12 months)

4 hours per week/approx. 52 sessions a year

Remuneration offered at the RCGP senior medical director rate of £232.02 per session

Location: Remote working

The Royal College of General Practitioners is the largest membership organisation solely for GPs in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1952, it has over 54,000 members who are committed to improving patient care, developing their own skills and promoting general practice as a discipline. General practice is the largest branch of the medical profession. It provides some 1 million consultations for patients in the UK every working day and deals with 86% of the health problems experienced by the UK population.

 

RCGP International is delighted to announce these two exciting opportunities to get engaged with the College's international work. We are seeking two experienced medical educators for the positions:

Medical Director for International Training

Medical Director for International Accreditation

 

Reporting into the Assistant Director of International, the MD for International Training will support the design and delivery of our international training initiatives, including Training of Trainers courses and international study tours.

 

We are looking for experienced and enthusiastic UK-qualified and UK-based GPs who would like to get involved in the College's international work and contribute their expertise to RCGP's international aspirations.

 

Other key requirements are an appropriate postgraduate qualification in medical education, experience in and knowledge of principles and methodologies of setting, developing, delivering and quality assuring medical assessments such as MRCGP[INT], hands-on experience of Family Medicine internationally, excellent communication and intercultural skills combined with tact and diplomacy.

The terms of these roles are initially for 12 months with the possibility of an extension by mutual agreement for up to a 3 year term. As a membership organisation we believe that it is important to open up leadership opportunities to a variety of people within our membership who can bring varied experience to the medical clinician roles and it is our policy to ensure that there is a rotation of individuals undertaking the roles of Medical clinicians.
